Asset Functions
Assets and components perform specific functions. It is these functions that need to be protected from deterioration, failure or loss. The asset function functionality provides reliability engineers the opportunity to capture the asset and component functions during failure analysis. Each asset or component can have multiple functions.
An asset in the asset tree inherits the functions from the asset type on which it is based. Asset functions can also be configured directly on assets.
Example
The primary function of a transformer on an industrial site is to transform the high voltage to medium voltage. Its secondary function is to enable transmission of electrical energy to the site. If the transformer fails, the entire site fails.
