Monitoring Point Triggers
A monitoring point trigger is a prompt that is actioned by an expression containing parameters. If the outcome of the expression is true, the trigger is set off and the alarm is created and activated.
An expression is a mathematical operation. Multiple monitoring point trigger expressions can be added to a monitoring point trigger. The monitoring point trigger uses the expressions to evaluate monitoring point readings and to identify whether the trigger must be activated. When the result of the monitoring point trigger expression is true, the trigger is actioned and the alarm is raised.
A parameter on a monitoring point trigger expression defines the expression and is used to formulate the expression. When any value changes in the parameters, then the expressions will be re-evaluated.
Alarm types are linked to monitoring point trigger expressions and are used to create alarms when the expression fails or the monitoring point is triggered. The alarm type determines what action must be performed.
Implementation in the Asset Register
The evaluation of monitoring point readings takes place at the monitoring point trigger and the monitoring point trigger expression is the "thinking" part that drives this evaluation.
Expressions can go across multiple monitoring points and other entities in On Key. When you create an inspection task in the asset register and link a monitoring point, then readings can be captured at the monitoring point. A follow up task containing monitoring point trigger expressions can be added to the asset inspection task during its configuration. The monitoring point trigger expression will determine whether the inspection task passes or fails, and if it fails, the follow up task is created.
