Meters

The meters entity represent physical meters and provides the ability to capture meter readings over time. The main purpose of a meter and its readings is to drive the forecasting mechanism of tasks, enabling the prediction of when tasks are due.

Meters are configured before being linked to assets. Meters are then linked to an asset to count units, which are used to monitor the asset's performance and determine when maintenance should be scheduled for the asset. The main meter is set on the asset and not on the meter. This provides more flexibility as a meter can be identified as the main meter on one asset and not be the main meter on another asset.

Examples of meters include:

  • Hourly meters that determine when the bearings in a pump are replaced.
  • Odometer meter readings for trucks that determine when the truck must be serviced.
  • Flow meters that measure litres of fluid to determine when the filters must be replaced.
