Set and Link Placeholder Asset Type Components
Objective
Linking a placeholder asset type component identifies a specific asset type that will be added to the asset type model in the asset type tree. A placeholder asset type component - linked can only be added to an asset type model as a placeholder asset type component.
The placeholder asset type component must first be set as a placeholder before it can be linked to an asset type.
How to link a placeholder asset type component
- Open the placeholder asset type component's edit screen.
- Use the Set Placeholder custom action in the Assist panel in the sidebar. The Regular Asset Types screen opens.
- Select a regular asset type from the grid and click Accept.
- With the edit screen still open, use the Set Linked Asset Type custom action in the Assist panel in the sidebar. The Regular Asset Types screen opens.
- Select a regular asset type from the grid and click Accept.
- Click Save. The Please Confirm dialog opens.
- Select the required options and click Accept.
- Click Save and Close.
As a result
A placeholder asset type component - linked is added to the asset type or regular asset type component in the asset type tree.
Keep in mind
A placeholder asset type component cannot be linked to an asset type that has an in-place asset type or placeholder asset type child item.
