Regular Asset Type Components
Asset types are made up of asset type components and sub assemblies of components that are used for maintenance management and performance management.
A regular asset type component is the raw material, part or sub-assembly that goes into the asset type. It is usually removable in one piece and interchangeable with other standard components. For example, the casing of a motor can be added as a regular asset type component for an asset type called "MOTOR".
A regular asset type component is added to an asset type model when the component is unique to the regular asset type, in-place asset type or placeholder asset type - linked.
A regular asset type component can be defined in the asset type tree and inherited as a regular asset component in the asset tree, or added in the asset tree.
A generic regular asset type component is configured once and re-used to configure asset type models for asset types.
Asset type components can be added to:
- a regular asset type
- an in-place asset type
- a placeholder asset type - linked
- another regular asset type component.
Asset type tasks can be added to each regular asset type component.
Example
A bicycle contains a wheel set, which is a part that can be removed in one piece and replaced with other components. In the asset type tree, a regular asset type component called "Wheel Set" is added to the "Bicycle" regular asset type. This generic regular asset type component is configured once and re-used to configure the different types of bicycles in the asset type tree.
