Reject Development in the Asset Type Tree

Objective

Reject development changes for an item in an asset type model.

Reject development options

These reject development options are available in the asset type tree:

Tick To
Apply to Children Reject development changes for each child item and its linked detail records.
This is optional and not applicable to tasks and linked detail records.
Apply to Descendants (And Descendants Via Linked Objects) Reject development changes for the selected record's corresponding item in descendant sub asset types, placeholder asset types - linked and placeholder asset type components - linked.
This is optional.

How to reject development of an item in an asset type model

  1. Access the Reject Development dialog in the asset type tree. This can be done via either of these methods:
    • Right-click the item in the tree structure and click Development Status > Reject.
    • Select the item in the tree structure and use the Reject Development custom action in the Assist panel in the sidebar.
    • Open the item's edit screen and use the Reject Development custom action in the Assist panel in the sidebar.
  2. Tick Apply to Children, if required.
  3. Tick Apply to Descendants (And Descendants Via Linked Objects), if required.
  4. Click Accept.

As a result

  • If the selected record's development status is NUD or NAC then:
    • The selected record is set to inactive.
  • If the selected record's development status is DAC then:
    • Changes for the selected record are rejected. The last confirmed values for the selected record are reinstated/restored.
    • Changes for each child item are rejected if Apply to Children is ticked. The last confirmed values for each child item are reinstated/restored.
    • Changes for the corresponding items in each asset type model for descendant sub asset types, placeholder asset types - linked and placeholder asset type components - linked are rejected if Apply to Descendants (And Descendants Via Linked Objects) is ticked. The last confirmed values for each corresponding item are reinstated/restored.
    • Each item's development status reverts to its previous status.
  • If development changes for an original item with development status NUD or NAC are rejected, then the item is set to inactive.
  • If development changes for an original item with development status MUD or MAC are rejected then:
    • The item's development status changes to Confirmed.
    • The item's values revert to the last confirmed values.
    • Changes for each child item are rejected if Apply to Children is ticked. The last confirmed values for each child item are reinstated/restored.
    • Changes for the corresponding items in each asset type model for descendant sub asset types, placeholder asset types - linked and placeholder asset type components - linked are rejected if Apply to Descendants (And Descendants Via Linked Objects) is ticked. The last confirmed values for each child item are reinstated/restored.
  • If development changes for an original item with development status DAC are rejected then:
    • The item's development status changes to its previous status.
    • The item's values revert to the last confirmed values.

Keep in mind

  • An asset type's development can only be rejected in the asset type tree.
  • Development of a sub item can only be rejected if the development status of its originating or parent item is Confirmed.
  • An item with development status Deleted - Confirmed is not displayed in the asset type tree unless the display option to show deleted confirmed objects is set.
  • An item with development status Deleted - Confirmed cannot be edited.
  • The development changes only apply to descendant items and child items (not linked detail records) if the appropriate options are selected in the Reject Development dialog.
  • A user must have the appropriate permissions to reject an item's development in the asset type tree.
