Work Order Movements
When work orders are split or merged, tasks are moved from one work order to another. The Work Order Movement Log enables you to keep track of the movement of tasks between work orders. Here, you can identify where a task originated from, how it was moved and the reason for the task moving or not moving. You are able to see all of the work order movement information in one table.
A user cannot insert work order movement records. They are inserted by the system when you perform a split or a merge. Refer to Work Order Splitting and Work Order Merging for more information.
Split and merge process
The Work Order Movement Log contains information on the work order movements, which identifies the action that was performed to cause a task movement on the work order and whether the current work order is the source work order or the target work order in that process.
In addition, it also contains information on the work order task movements, where further details on the tasks that were moved during the split or merge process are displayed.
The associated tables are also displayed on either the source work order or the target work order, depending on whether a split or a merge was performed:
- Split action
- Merge action
When a work order is split, the source work order where the tasks are moved from will contain the work order movement information. The target work order where the tasks are moved to, which is a new work order created by the system, will contain the task movement information.
When you merge work orders, the work order movement information is displayed on the target work order, which was selected for the tasks to be moved to. The task movement information is displayed on the source work order, which loses its tasks and is cancelled.
For more information on what can be viewed on the relevant work orders, refer to Work Order Movements and Task Movements.
