Change Asset Type on Regular Asset

Objective

Update the asset type value on a regular asset record.

How to change the asset type on a regular asset

  1. From the On Key home page Main Menu, click Asset and Maintenance Plan Configuration > Assets > Asset Tree. The Asset Tree dashboard opens.
  2. Open the regular asset record.
  3. Use the Change Asset Type custom action in the Assist panel in the sidebar.
  4. Select the desired site from the Change Asset Type screen.
  5. Set Keep Original Root Items to true if non-inherited linked objects should be retained.
  6. Click Accept.

As a result

  • The asset type on the regular asset is changed.
  • The following linked objects get deleted (the Development Status of these records is updated to Deleted - Confirmed):
    • inherited regular asset components
    • inherited regular asset tasks
    • inherited in-place assets
    • inherited placeholder assets
    • custom objects that are linked to any of the above records.
Keep in mind
  • The Change Regular Asset Asset Type permission is required to perform this action.
  • The asset type cannot be changed if there is a linked placeholder asset below the asset.
  • Updated records need to be synchronised for the changes to take effect.
