Task Importances

Task importance is used as a filter for analysis and reporting, in order to prioritise tasks in terms of how critical the work is. It is a value that indicates how urgent the task is so that work orders for assets can be prioritised.

For example, three out of five artisans have reported for work and the work orders for that day need to be distributed among the three artisans. The supervisor can list the work orders in task importance sequence and assign them to the three artisans, based on the information in the list.

The task importance structure should describe the specific levels of urgency applicable to the organisation.

These are possible task importance structures and values:

  • A 1 to 5 scale of urgency, where 5 is most urgent.
  • Low, Medium, High or Very High.
  • 1D for priority less than 1 day (ASAP), 3D for priority less than 3 days and so on.
