Changelog

The changelog shows the changes that have been made to records. It captures the details of records that were created, records that were updated and records that were deleted. So, when you create, update or delete a record, it will display in the changelog. Additionally, when a background task is completed, it will also display in the changelog.

The changelog provides a history of database changes for specific business objects. This enables you to track or audit any changes that have been made to individual records in the database.

Using the changelog

In On Key, you have access to two views of the changelog – a global view as well as an entity view. The global changelog is accessed by clicking System Management > Changelog in the main menu. All the records that have been created, updated and deleted, as well as when these transactions occurred are displayed. Additional columns can be added to the global changelog grid via Properties Panel in the toolbar.

To view a list of the fields that were modified, select the record in the grid then click Values in the toolbar. Here, the entity and field where changes were made can be viewed, as well as the field value before the change and the field value after the change, where applicable. One record could list multiple values.

The changelog can also be viewed directly from the record where the changes were made in the system. To open the entity changelog, select the record in the grid or open its edit screen, then in the sidebar click Assist > View Changelog. From here, only the updates made to the record is shown.

The entity changelog view includes the full name of the user that made changes to the record, along with the date and time of the change. The entry can be expanded to display the specific field values that were changed on the record. Filters are available on the toolbar.
