Perform Bulk Update
Objective
Make changes to multiple records simultaneously.
How to perform a bulk update
- Navigate to the dashboard where a bulk update is required.
- Select one or more records in the grid, then click Assist > Bulk Update in the sidebar. The Bulk Update screen for the entity opens, listing all the fields that can be updated.
- Select the field(s) to update and click Continue.
- Add the value(s) to update the field(s) to, or alternatively, leave them empty to have them cleared.
- Specify if this should be Run as Background Task and click Save.
As a result
A notification message displays, indicating the number of successful updates and the number of failed updates. From here, click More Info to locate the specific record for which the update passed or failed.
Keep in mind
- Bulk update can be performed on one or more records, and on one or more fields on those records.
- Bulk update will only apply to the selected records.
- Fields on multiple records can be cleared by leaving the fields empty on the Bulk Update screen.
- When a field is a required field, this will also be illustrated as such on the Bulk Update screen.
- Bulk update is also available on certain recursive dashboards. In some cases, the record needs to be selected in the grid first for the Bulk Update option to display in the Assist panel in the sidebar.
- The bulk update functionality will adhere to the rules and validations for the entity.
- A user needs the appropriate permissions per entity to perform a bulk update. However, for recursive dashboards, a user makes use of the same permissions that apply to the normal dashboards.
- A validation error message is displayed for selected records to which the specified bulk updates do not apply.
