Performance Management
The Performance Management module provides offline asset performance monitoring functionality that enables users to monitor, measure and compare asset productivity levels and efficiency.
When performance management is enabled for an asset, information is collected to enable the following:
- Analysis of the underlying causes of slow running, short stops and asset downtime.
- Benchmarking production figures against best practice models.
- Calculation of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Refer to Enable Performance Management for more information.
Calculating OEE
Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is a useful metric for identifying areas of improvement in manufacturing processes, such as reducing downtime, improving machine speed or enhancing product quality.
OEE is calculated using the following formula:
OEE = Availability x Performance x Quality, where
Availabilityis the percentage of time the equipment is available for production, accounting for downtime due to machine breakdowns, set up or maintenance, for example.Performanceis the speed at which the equipment is running compared to its designed speed. Slower operating speeds are often due to inefficiencies and short stops.Qualityis a comparison of good products to total products produced, considering rejects, defects and rework.
An OEE score of 100% means that the equipment is running at its maximum potential with zero downtime, no losses in performance, and producing only good-quality products.
Configuring performance management master data
The following master data needs to be configured to use On Key's performance management functionality:
- Production configuration
- Loss configuration
- Shift configuration
- Resource configuration
